FIU - Finish It Up!
Ok, I can think of no better way to get back into the quilting rhythm than machine quilting a top that I have already promised to someone.
It will be a good start, and I am committing to finishing this quilt by May 22, binding and all! Due to the challenge issued over at Pat Sloan's Corner.
I know it doesn't meet her guidelines for a FIU, but I'm a rebel, and I want to FINISH A QUILT!
Bad photo I know, but I'm gonna work on blog worthy photography too! Hopefully I'll have some better photos to show you soon.
This quilt top is a BOM from the LQS that I did several years ago. It is a weird assortment of batiks that they picked out. I would never have chosen these particular fabrics. They are way too matchy for me, especially since fabris are so similar often the pattern cannot be detected, and then totally random fabrics were thrown in every few months. The orange, beige and grey backgrounds are so out of place it just doesn't make sense. And I am one of those "add something random" to the quilt kind of people. I just like to use my stray element enough to have it make sense.
The blocks were virtually free to make (LOL, that's what they have you think!) $1 per block, so it was only $12 right??? Ahhh, the 12 trips to the quilt store cost between $50 and $100 each, so I'm guessing this "great work of art" cost somewhere around $700 in stash building. The sashing and border were extra! I don't even know if they are using this method (not that I ever minded) to lure people into the stores any more. I'll have to go on a trip to the LQS and check it out. Do you guys know if the $1 quilt is still popular?

I don't really have just one favorite quilt, I LOVE them all, but one that stands out to me is a top that was pieced by myself and several friends (that I have never met) in a round robin. My favorite color is green (chartreuse to be exact) and I have come to love the secondary triad color scheme of green, orange and purple.
Since making this quilt, life has been busy; every day a scramble to the finish, flopping into bed at the wee hours of the morning, just to turn around and snooze the blaring alarm after only a few hours have elapsed. Time for another day of waking the kids up, getting them off to school, and heading to work.
This is the LAST quilt top I have made. Or been a part of making. I really sewed a border on 6 other quilts. The part of this I actually designed and sewed is the center block up to the medium green first border. This quilt is big enough for a king size bed! Imagine doing a king size round robin. NUTS! But the quilt tops all turned out great!
I am ready to get back into quilting, and am making efforts to do so, I was so passionate about quilting. Unfortunately, the rigors of work and kids just took its toll and took over my existence. I am ready for quilt therapy to return to my world.

Adventure
A first post just to get this blog going is a little intimidating. What should I write? Should it be in first person? Will anyone be checking my english usage, and berating me because I didn't capitalize the e in english, or will I be mocked for leaving my participles hanging? I mean dangling?
Oh me, oh my! What a mess of thoughts that are tangled up in my head waiting to get out. Should I spill them here? Is this going to be therapy for me. Spilling my worst or best kept secrets? Naahhh! I'll probably just try to find some others with similar interests, and maybe I'll be as interesting as they are. Doubtful, but this is definately something new.
An adventure.
An adventure into the second half of my life.
